Is anything not allowed on exam day?

Yes, there are specific items and behaviors that are not allowed on the day of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam to maintain the integrity of the exam and to ensure a fair testing environment for all candidates. Here are some of the common prohibitions:

Prohibited Items
Electronic Devices:
All forms of electronic devices, including cell phones, smartphones, tablets, calculators, smart watches, and other wearable technology, are generally not allowed in the testing area.


Personal Belongings: Large bags, purses, and backpacks may need to be stored in a designated area or left outside the testing room.


Books and Notes: No reference materials, books, notes, or papers of any kind are permitted during the exam unless specifically allowed as part of an approved accommodation.


Food and Drinks: These are typically not allowed in the testing room, though accommodations may be made for candidates with specific health needs.


Hats and Sunglasses: Hats, caps (unless for religious purposes), and sunglasses are usually not allowed inside the examination room.


Prohibited Behaviors
 

Talking or Communicating: Communicating with other test-takers during the exam is strictly prohibited.
Cheating: Attempting to take the exam for someone else, using unauthorized materials, or giving or receiving help during the exam are all considered cheating and can result in disqualification and further penalties.
Recording and Reproducing Exam Material: Attempting to take any part of the exam out of the testing room, whether by memorization, recording, writing down, or any other means, is strictly forbidden.


What to Bring Instead
 

Required Identification: Typically, a government-issued photo ID is required to verify your identity.
Confirmation Letter or Email: Bringing a copy of your registration confirmation can help resolve any discrepancies on the test day.
Necessary Stationery: Depending on the specifics of your exam (e.g., written

vs. computer-based), you might need to bring pencils and an eraser.


Tips for Exam Day
 

Arrive Early: Get to the testing center early to allow time for check-in procedures and to settle in before the exam starts.
Know the Rules: Be fully aware of the testing center’s rules before you arrive to avoid any misunderstandings or issues on test day.
Stay Calm and Focused: Prepare mentally and physically by getting a good night's sleep and eating a healthy meal before the exam.
